ADAX DEBUTS NEW BROADBAND COMMUNICATION CONTROLLER
WITH 4 X OC3/STM-1 TRUNKS FOR ATM AND ATM-IP INTERWORKING
ATM4 offers smooth migration to Next Generation Networks
12 June, Reading, UK - Adax Europe Ltd, a leading
supplier of signaling solutions, is pleased to announce the availability
of the ATM4 AdvancedMC broadband Communication Controller. The ATM4
offers four OC3/STM-1 or two OC12/STM-4 trunks and is the perfect
interface to process ATM and IP signaling and bearer traffic. The
board and driver provide advanced capabilities, including AAL2/5
to UDP/IP interworking, and IP routing and forwarding over ATM. The
on-board processor handles thousands of packets per second placing
minimal load on the host, maximising application performance and
minimizing service degradation for the customer.
This generation of board is based on the state of the art Wintegra
Winpath2 Processor technology, and as with all Adax technology, it
continues to provide a smooth transition for customers migrating
from legacy SS7 to Next Generation Networks such as IMS. Not only
does the ATM4 support multiple protocols simultaneously, it is also
capable of processing multi-media traffic which is fundamental for
IMS networks. Furthermore, the ATM4 has a consistent API with previous
generations of Adax ATM cards, allowing customers to easily upgrade
their applications, systems and architectures seamlessly with minimal
development time, providing fast time to market and reducing CAPEX
and OPEX.
Designed for use in AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA platforms, the product
serves high availability, high bandwidth carrier applications in
wireless 3G and 4G, fixed and mobile convergence and Next Generation
Networks such as RNCs, MSCs, Node Bs, Voice over Packet, and Video
Streaming.
“The advanced capabilities of the ATM4 make this board the
definite choice for Operators that are migrating towards Next Generation
Networks, and so far the interest in this board has been phenomenal” comments
Robin Kent, Director, European Operations at Adax Europe. “This
board enables development flexibility in building next generation
infrastructure and can be configured in many ways depending on customer
applications and preferred architecture. This flexibility enables
integrators to satisfy a wide range of requirements with a single
core architecture, saving development time and allowing integration
ahead of competition,” continues Kent.
Adax is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and with many
years of experience in the signaling industry, the company understands
that it will take time to fully transition to ATCA and IMS. Therefore,
Adax will continue to provide the full range of signaling requirements
for SS7, ATM and IP, across all form factors and supported by a common
architecture with a single driver and uniform API.
The ATM4 will also be available in PCIe format. Evaluations of the new product
will commence in the next few weeks and general availability is scheduled for
Q3.
