Adax and HSS enable SS7 and Mobile Data Applications

Telcos implementing Intelligent Network (IN) and Voice Over IP (VOIP) applications based around SS7, and 3G Services based around ATM and SS7, now have a single source for network foundations. The capability is the result of a new partnership between Adax and Hughes Software Systems (HSS), announced today. The combination of higher layer software from HSS and protocol controller boards and software from Adax offers users complete solutions for both fixed and mobile applications.

As a result, developers can lower time to market for applications by sourcing frameworks built around HSS 3G, SS7 and VOIP software stacks and Adax protocol controller boards. The HSS SS7 layer 2 has been ported to Adax T1/E1 boards and is offered as an on-board component with the Adax products. The solution conforms to the US, European and Japanese versions of SS7 layer 2 and provides APIs for the higher layers of SS7 to integrate the layer 2 functions on the Adax protocol controllers.

The HSS 3G Software frameworks such as Core Network and Radio Network Controllers drive the Adax ATM hardware. Similarly HSS VOIP Softswitch products, including its Media Gateway Controller, Gatekeeper and SIP Servers, utilise the Adax protocol controller boards. This off-the-shelf solution reduces OEMs time to market and enables the rapid deployment of new services.
