Adax Announces High Speed Network Controller to Span Next Generation of Intelligent Networks
GPRS and 3G networks that need to transfer broadband traffic to or from a Base Transceiver Station, Mobile Switching center or other protocol routing/switching gateway are the target for a new signaling solution from Adax. The ANC-OC3 board provides the foundation layer for the broadband signaling used in these gateways and next generation wireless solutions where ATM signaling will require SSCOP/SSCF software.
Adax has developed the ANC-OC3/STM-1 network controller card to satisfy market demands for increasing bandwidth. The ANC-OC3/STM-1 will enable telecommunications equipment manufacturers to transfer data traffic where existing T1/E1 or T3/E3 links are of insufficient bandwidth. It has the ability to transfer data at fibre optic speeds of up to 155Mbps for the lower layers (1 and 2) of the network. The product works with Adax tested and fielded SSCOP and SSCF for signaling applications.
The ANC-OC3/STM-1 is available with either fibre optic line termination or Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP). It is a mezzanine board which mates with the Adax ATM-PCI/cPCI protocol controllers, occupies only a single slot and supports multiple physical link protocols, ensuring a smooth migration from T1 or E1. The ANC-OC3/STM-1 is the ideal solution for transferring traffic to or from a BTS, MSC or other protocol routing or switching solution. Adax claim it will provide telecommunications equipment manufacturers with an extensive and flexible solution for high speed data transfer.
ATM bandwidth for 3G networks The accompanying Adax ATM protocol controller provides higher bandwidth virtual channels than those used with T1 or E1 connections. The ATM signaling equivalent of MTP-2 (SSCOP/SSCF) has the potential to carry voice and data channels for hundreds of wireless users. The OC3 and ATM products therefore offer an ideal product combination for the GGSNs and SGSNs required for GPRS systems, 3G networks and beyond.
“This latest Adax network controller card is a solution to span the next generation of Intelligent Networks, including GPRS and 3G applications,” explained Robin Kent, Director of European Operations at Adax. “It draws on the Adax qualities of performance, reliability and time to market which are so important for customers in this fast moving industry."
