High Performance
IP-PSTN Convergence Technology Unveiled
The fundamental
incompatibility of IP and existing fixed and mobile telco networks
was swept away today with the launch of new convergence technology
from industry innovator, Adax. Introduction of the technology will
allow telcos to provide high performance gateways to telephony services
at the backbone level, accelerating adoption of Voice over IP (VoIP)
and other applications that demand high quality and reliable IP
service. The announcement was made by the company at the 3GSM World
Congress, opened today in Cannes, France.
Adax, the world's
leading supplier of signaling controllers and software that provide
the foundation for telecoms networks, has developed the technology
to provide high performance gateways between voice and data traffic,
within telcos' backbones. The combination of the Adax HDC and ATM
cards, with Adax protocol software including SCTP, SS7 and SSCOP,
provides a powerful and flexible foundation for network convergence.
The new technology will be available for narrowband and broadband,
wireline and wireless networks alike. The Adax technology is compatible
with existing infrastructures, shortening the adoption timeframes
and costs.
"We are
very excited about this new technology," said Robin Kent, Director,
European Operations, Adax. "For the first time, telcos will
be able to deliver the quality and reliability of IP services via
the PSTN. Voice and data will be able to travel alongside each other
right through the networks - from point to point without bottlenecks."
Based on open
systems standards, modular design and a common API, the combination
of Adax products and the resulting solutions are ideal for today's
convergence gateways and telephony infrastructure.
"We have
used the ADAX signaling boards for our IN solutions, Media Gateway
Controllers and GPRS/UMTS software solutions" said Manoranjan
Mohapatra, Chief Operating Officer, Hughes Software Systems (HSS).
" The HSS –ADAX integrated solutions bring time to profit
advantages to our customers."
