Enhanced signaling gateway products reduce network costs and maximize
operator revenues
Gateways offer improved density, throughput and performance
Reading, UK, 9 June 2004: Adax has announced significant enhancements
to its family of signaling gateway products that will provide
increased cost savings for network operators migrating to IP signaling
from traditional
SS7-based circuits. The link density, throughput and performance
of the gateways have all been increased following upgrades to the
communications
controllers and software modules. These improvements enable operators
to manage the growth of their network while maximizing revenues
and satisfying consumer demands for new services.
The four Adax SS7 over IP gateways for switching, routing, tunnelling
and backhaul are now capable of supporting up to 2 million BHCA (Busy
Hour Call Attempts) and are scalable up to 5 million BHCA and beyond.
Over the past 12 months the number of SS7 links in the gateways has been
increased from eight to 64 while the number of T1/E1 links has been doubled
to 16. In addition, the gateways are now capable of delivering 128 SCTP
associations, with up to three secondary IP addresses per association.
The gateways are NEBS certified platforms for carrier-grade reliability,
maximizing value for customers by offering one of the lowest costs per
link and highest throughputs available on the market today.
The Adax signaling gateways enable the simple and straightforward migration
of existing SS7 Nodes to IP transport, saving the costs associated
with leasing or provisioning dedicated long haul SS7 circuits.
In addition, the migration to IP signaling enables the network
to deal with
the increasing
demands for bandwidth from new applications such as video gaming
and with the more 'bursty' nature of traffic generated by SMS
and multi-media messaging.
