LAPB/LAPD/LAPV5 Software for CCITT/ITU Standards

Overview
Adax APS-LAPX is a streams software module
and API that supports the LAPB, LAPD and LAPV5 layer 2 data communications
protocols. It provides application programmers with a complete development
environment for layer 2 protocols and as a member of the Adax Protocol
Software (APS) product line it supports the principles of flexibility,
high performance, and open standards conformance that define the
Adax commitment to its customers. Together with the APC line of
communications controllers, APS-LAPX is a high performance, highly
integrated communications solution for billing applications or wireless
network infrastructure.
Application Programmers Interface
A C language library is provided to allow application programmers
to easily access all of the features in APS-LAPX and there are various
modes of operation for different applications. The programmer can
select from the following modes of operation:
- LAPB/LAPD/LAPV5 protocol modes
- Supermultiplexing mode
- Half Window Acknowledgment mode
- LAPB/LAPD/LAPV5 Protocol Modes
The Adax LAPX module can support:
- The LAPB protocol as specified in CCITT
X.25
- The LAPD protocol as specified in CCITT
Q.921
- The LAPV5-DL over LAPV5-EF protocols
as specified in ETSI standard ETS 300 324-1:1996.
- LAPD connections encapsulated over
LAPV5-EF. Every connection bound to a single module will utilize
the same protocol, but every instance of the LAPX module may run
a different protocol.
Performance is in the Details
The Supermultiplexing mode allows the user to bind more than one
connection to a single module enabling up to 2,048 connections on
a single Adax ACT/8 card. LAPX can be used singularly or in conjunction
with other Adax product such as X.25 and Frame Relay or with 3rd
party products in a number of different applications. By setting
the Half Window Acknowledgment mode the module will only send RR
acknowledgments when the window is half full. This does not affect
the normal operation of the LAPX module but it significantly reduces
the CPU utilization and improves the throughput of the line.
Integration Expertise
Adax adds a key ingredient no other company can match – expert technical
services. Combined with Adax integrated software modules and hardware
products, our technical expertise helps you build the highest performance
foundations for your network. You can count on Adax to be there
with you. No matter what changes may occur in operating systems,
bus architectures, applications, or protocols, Adax has been and
will continue to be your direct connection to the world.
Operating Systems Support and Adax
Protocol Controllers
All Adax products are available for PCI, cPCI and PMC architectures,
supporting Linux and Solaris Operating Systems. VxWorks, HP-UX and
IBM AIX are also supported for certain products.
The FR/PPP software operates with the
following Adax products: HDC High Density Channelized Controller
for Multiple Protocols ACT Channelized Controller for HDLC, LAPB/D
and Frame Relay
Adax Software
Adax Protocol Software (APS) is a suite of products designed to
get the most out of each Adax hardware product and is supplied with
a set of common APIs enabling simple integration of the upper layers.
Adax HDLC, SS7, SCTP, SSCOP, X.25, Frame Relay, LAPB, LAPD and LAPV5
provide a well-balanced, high performance, low overhead direct connection
to the network.
Fastest Time to Market
Adax provides extremely fast time to market through simplicity of
design and a modular product range. This common software interface
ensures a simple migration path and provides a flexible and portable
solution. The API’s between products remain the same preserving
the investment in the higher layer software and applications. This
compatibility enables quick upgrades to next generation requirements
and easy field upgrades to expand the capabilities of installed
systems
